Drew's eyes fluttered open to two familiar sounds - the sizzle of garlic in the kitchen and Jace's soft snoring beside him. Just another morning or so he thought.
Pero may kakaiba.
Not exactly wrong. Parang may mali, pero 'di mo ma-pinpoint. Like when you wake up from a weird dream na bigla na lang nawala sa isip mo.
His phone buzzed. Message from Ate:
"Drew, bili ka isda sa palengke later. Dalhin mo si Jace , lakas kumain n'yan eh."
Drew frowned at his screen. Since when did Ate Mia talkabout Jace like... ganun lang? So casual?
Pagbaba niya, nakita niyang naghahain si Nanay ng five plates instead of four. And there was Jace, casually stealing food from Drew's plate like he'd been doing it for years.
Then he saw it.
Tatay didn't even react. Tuloy lang sa pagkain.
Jace reached for his hand under the table - rough from basketball, warm, and so... familiar.
Drew took a deep breath.
"Putangina," he whispered to himself. "Had it always been like this?"
