The Shadows of Her Past
“Hey there.” Heather was snapped out of her thoughts when a young man sat down beside her. By the look in his eyes, she could tell the conversation wasn’t going to end well.
“Go away,” she responded, not looking at him.
“Why should I? I simply want to talk,” he said.
“You’re only trying to help yourself. I have no need to talk. Now please, go away,” Heather accused, her voice filled with irritation.
“Okay, okay, you caught me. But I do wish to know why a pretty young lady like yourself would be sitting out here all alone,” the boy sighed, sounding quite sad.
“I’m alone because I want to be. I don’t want, nor do I need someone like you in my life.” ~The Shadows of Her Past
Heather is seventeen. She trusts no one, not even herself. Ever since she can remember, people have not treated her the way they should, beginning with the father who beat her when she was young. That is, until Heather ran away.
Now Heather has tried to start over yet again, and finally feels as though this new place could be good for her after a small problem with a boy who was used to getting his way. She finds friends, and people she can trust. But her shadows are still following her, striking whenever she least expects it.
When it all comes down to the end, will Heather be able to escape the shadows of her past?
