The silence that followed only stretched on for a few seconds at least, but to Parker even 20 seconds felt too long. A twinge of panic creeps up his spine and raises goosebumps on the back of his neck; no matter how hard Parker tried to still his shaking hands, they only grew worse with each passing second. He prays it isn't as noticeable as it feels.

I stood with my back to her, shielding her, and my murderous eyes stared down at the poor excuse of a man, promising unimaginable pain if he dared to move or even flinch. Two things to take away: you never know what is going on in someone's head and the most important thing...you never know what happens behind closed doors.
