When the Wolves Came
By Prince Rameses Ceasar

In a quiet medieval village, Elias was never meant to be a warrior. He was just a farmer, a flower-loving soul with no love for bloodshed-living under the shadow of his father, a former crusader known as a beast in battle. But everything changes when his village is scorched by the flames of prophecy... and wolves.

When Elias sees the eyes of fate staring back at him through a pack of wolves, an ancient legend awakens:
"The chosen one will find the wolves... and become one."

Betrayal cuts deepest when it comes from the ones you trust. Elias's childhood friend, his protector, will one day be the one to break him. His mother-a former killer turned saint-reminds him that rage is both a weapon and a curse. And all the while, a darkness stirs in the north: Vikings who bathe in blood and carry the stench of war.

Elias never believed in destiny.
Now, destiny believes in him.

I shuddered. It had never been so dark, nor so quiet before. There was always the light of the moon to guide me. The sound of the wind against the trees. I shook the thought from my mind and continued further into the wood. Then I saw it. A white light spread across the ground in front of me. The clouds had parted from where they were, revealing the moon at its fullest. I stared in awe. It had never been so bright. The ambiance began to come back. The wind began to dance with the trees. I closed my eyes. The scent of oak filled my nose and exhaled through my mouth. The aroma filled me with exhilaration. It filled me with something I couldn't explain. I felt something I hadn't felt in a long time. Although it was something I wasn't used to feeling, I craved it deeply. I felt happy. I felt as if nothing else mattered than this moment. I opened my eyes. Everything seemed clearer. I could see the particles of dust flying in the beam of light that shone around me. I wanted to stay here for longer. I wanted this moment to last forever. Until I saw the wolf. It was hidden among the fold of trees behind me. It stared at me in aggravation. It's brows furrowed in my direction. It's face, livid with anger, revealed a set of unpleasant and sharp teeth. It began to move slightly forward. The wolf bounded towards me. It happened so quickly I had no time to react. It's limbs outstretched. It's teeth bared. My body, paralyzed from fear, refused to move. My lip quivered, urged to call for help, but no help would come. I was too deep into the woods. No one would hear my screams. The thought was soon interrupted by the wolf's teeth digging into my side.

' there is a wolf in the mist, and the gods have lied. ' FOR CENTURIES, the settlement of Mistrheimr has stood at the threshold of the unknown, where mist never lifts and gods do not answer. Each year, the fog creeps closer, swallowing land, shadow and breath alike. The people whisper of beings in the dark, cursed creatures that should not be freed. When the gods, the Aesir, demand a sacrifice, they do not choose the golden daughter, Sólveig, nor the seer who speaks in riddles, Saga. They choose Sigrnótt - the unwanted, the nightborn. Cast into the mist, she expects death. But in the heart of the forgotten land, she finds a god in chains. Bound by the final vestiges of Gleipnir, the unbreakable fetters designed by the gods themselves, the great wolf Fenrir waits - for blood, for vengeance, for the end of the world. The Aesir had feared his hunger and in their fear, had buried him in fog, caging not only his body but memory of his name. But Sigrnótt remembers. And when she speaks it, the mist stirs, the chains tremble and the echoes of old prophecies begin to whisper once more.
