The Vålnad were hunters, hunters of the Dark and those who wield it, that was until one of their own betrayed them. The Empress and her Dark army have taken over Airia, and hunted the Vålnad to near extinction.  The last remnants of the order continue their fight against the Dark and the Empress, but as the war goes on more and more Vålnad are killed, with few of their safe houses and under a thousand members the Vålnad has to fight to survive with their corporeal allies.

The Chronicles of Starlyn by CraigAPrice

Her love for both her mother and sister leave her torn to either save her mother or her sister, and if at all possible to save them both. However, if she doesn’t make the right choice, it may condemn both of them to death, and leave Starlyn without family, which is the very thing she treasures the most.
