Everyone knows the story: the bite, the powers, the responsibility. It's written into the very fabric of the Marvel Universe. But this time... it didn't happen.
Not because fate had other plans-because fate had no plan at all.
It was an accident. A glitch in the system. And somehow, Jace Maddox-tall, awkward, too-smart-for-his-own-good Jace-got bitten instead.
He wasn't chosen. He wasn't ready. But now he's swinging through streets he barely knows how to protect, wearing a mask that was never meant to be his.
And Peter?
He's watching his best friend become the hero he was supposed to be.
And no one-not even Spider-Man-can escape a tangled web.
