Vance Harmon never planned on being anyone's protector. As a homicide detective with a strange and secret gift-visions that let him relive the final moments of a crime-he's spent years buried in other people's tragedies, pushing everyone away to keep himself sane. But everything changes the day he finds her: a tiny, silent girl stealing from a store, she doesn't trust anyone. And yet, somehow, Vance can't walk away. Taking her in is a decision made in a heartbeat-but learning how to care for a child is something else entirely. Vance is awkward, lost, and afraid of doing more harm than good. Still, day by day, crayon by crayon, something begins to grow between them. A fragile connection. A second chance. As Vance tries to solve the mysteries surrounding her past and protect her from the dangers that still linger, he'll have to confront his own-because healing might come in unexpected ways, and family doesn't always look the way he thought it would.

She doesn't carry a badge. Just the truth everyone else misses. When a triple homicide confounds Metro PD, intern Nova Reyes stumbles onto the case-and rewrites the narrative in under twenty minutes. The crime wasn't a random break-in. It was a perfectly calculated manipulation of perception, buried beneath layers of misdirection. And Nova saw right through it. Armed with an eidetic memory, a background in neuroscience, and a mind trained to untangle patterns others can't even see, Nova is pulled into the world of criminal investigation. But she's not chasing obvious suspects. She's tracing thought errors-the invisible flaws in logic that lead people to kill. But for every case Nova solves, her own mystery deepens. Whispers from her past surface. An unsolved crime she's tried to forget claws its way back. Because the most dangerous patterns aren't just found in others. Sometimes... they live inside you.
