In the aftermath of Shadow Weaver's death, Adora and Catra uncover disturbing secrets, experiments and abandoned creations that force them to confront their childhood trauma and demons. Their journey of healing is not a straight line as Adora struggles with psychological effects of the war. Meanwhile Catra realises that redemption is not as easy as just helping Adora save Etheria. There are still children that fear her and people that do not forgive her for her deeds. Their attempt at happiness is violently interrupted when they encounter a mysterious figure known only as "1000."
In the hidden city of Blood Moon, a figure designed merely to be a faulty mistake questions her purpose. She only has value to help her brother reach his greatness, yet she yearns for more. As war reaches its peak, she makes a desperate choice-traveling back in time to destroy the sword and wipe out the magicats. But loyalty and betrayal hang in balance as she faces the ultimate choice.
