Eryndir, a third-rated failure of a mage, wakes up in a parallel reality in which he is the Dark Lord who has terrorized the entire world for a decade.
It turns out that the evil Eryndir in the alternative reality is killed by a hero protagonist, who turns out, scandalizingly, was the Dark Lord's secret lover.
The Dark Lord's ally, the scary Death Knight, summons the lame edition of Eryndir from another reality to assume the Dark Lord's identity so their Dominion of Terror will remain stable and powerful.
Being called worthless and useless his whole life, Eryndir has to tap into his inner villain to survive in a reality in which everyone hates his guts, and even the ones who he cares will betray him at any second.
The Death Knight is not pleased that he gets the worst version of the Dark Lord of all possibilities, but he is determined to train the shitty mage into a proper tyrant. Besides, controlling and dominating the Dark Lord would have been fun, wouldn't it?
