An Outsiders Story. Ponyboy Curtis is sixteen now, stuck up a year in school as a junior in high school, and still carrying the scars of the friends he lost and the fights he can't forget. He's grown his hair long, bleached blond like it was that night in Windrixville-trying to hold on to the past, even as it threatens to pull him under. Just when it seemed like the streets had calmed, the war between the Greasers and the Socs starts to boil again. The tension isn't just back-it's worse. Someone gets hurt. Bad. And Ponyboy finds himself right back in the middle of it all, with fists flying, blood spilling, and history threatening to repeat itself. He's tired of fighting. Tired of losing. But when loyalty runs deep and revenge burns hot, walking away isn't so simple. Can Ponyboy stop the violence before it takes someone else he loves? Or is peace just another dream that dies young? A gritty, emotional return to the world of The Outsiders, Gold Smoke asks what it really means to stay gold-when everything around you is burning.

The story follows Baylee Curtis, the youngest of the crew. How the death of her parents and being raised by her brothers and the gang on the east side affected her everyday life. Growing up Greaser isn't easy, especially for a twelve-year-old girl who's desperate to belong yet determined to prove she can stand on her own. Every day is a balancing act. Between childhood and survival, between loyalty and danger, between keeping quiet and fighting back. With tensions rising between the Socs and the Greasers, Baylee finds herself pulled deeper into a world of violence, secrets, and choices that no kid should have to make. If she slips up, even once, the state could step in and tear her family apart for good. Can Baylee keep herself out of trouble long enough to hold her family together? Or will the streets of Tulsa swallow her whole? This is a fan fiction based on the book/movie 'The Outsiders'. I do not own any of the original main characters from either series. This is the first fan fiction that I have ever written, and let it be known I am not an English major, so I apologize in advance for any grammatical or punctuational errors. Feedback is welcome, and I am always open to new ideas 🙂
