He knows the story because he watched the anime (and is in a Facebook group where novel spoilers are posted), but he doesn't know as much as he should. To add to his problems, his physical condition is poor-not terrible, but poor. He's chubby, and the little he knows about self-defense is what he learned from a boxing class he took as a teenager (he was the most one-handed in the group).
