Two women from different worlds. One bound by fire. The other, by ice. Engfa Waraha was ruthless, cold, and unafraid to break hearts. At thirty, she had everything-money, power, women at her feet. A woman who loved nothing more than the chase, and who never stayed in one place for too long. Never letting anyone get too close. Not even her own family. Her love life was a string of broken, short-lived romances. One month-no longer. Charlotte Austin was a quiet, innocent twenty-year-old-fresh from college and ready to begin her life. She had a boyfriend she loved and dreams she was determined to make her own. But those dreams weren't hers to control. Not anymore. Not when her father, driven by business, decided to trade her away like a pawn for a massive merger. They didn't get a choice. Their lives were exchanged in the name of power. Engfa wanted to burn the contract. Charlotte wanted to run. But destiny had other plans. And soon, the two would collide. When fire meets ice... who will break first?

Engfa isn't the kind of person you'd call a hopeless romantic. Sure, she's secretly in love with her friend, but she'd never admit it--let alone make a wish about it, especially not on something as cliché as a wishing star. She'd rather eat molten rock than be caught doing that. But one fateful, alcohol-fueled night, Engfa finds herself staring at a shooting star through her hazy stupor. Against her better judgment, she figures...why not? It's not like she has anything to lose (except maybe her pride and her hard-earned reputation as the ultimate hater of wishing stars). So, with slurred words and the unmistakable scent of booze on her breath, she makes a wish.
