They even get the honor of performing it in the Paris opera house where the phantom himself still resides as an actual ghost. That is until he suddenly comes alive again.

After all, we don't quite know why he was specifically the "Angel Of Music" or why he chose Christine amongst all the other talented singers. Christine is a ballet girl at the Opera Populaire, who takes place of La Carlotta for her signing. The Phantom, who has been secretly teaching her, hears her sing and wants to take her for himself.
