Nagsimula ang lahat sa simpleng kuryosidad ng batang si Karlos-isang pagsilip sa kahong mahigpit na ipinagbawal ng kanyang lola. Ngunit sa pagbuklat niya ng isang madugong kuwaderno, unti-unting nabuksan ang pinto sa isang lihim na matagal nang nakabaon sa katahimikan. Mula sa pag-ibig, trahedya, at pagkamatay, lumalalim ang hiwagang bumabalot sa bawat pahina-hanggang sa iisa na lamang ang natira.
