I wrote this short story in my senior year creative writing class. I worry a detailed synopsis might spoil it (given that it's a short story), so I'll keep it brief.

This is a story of reminiscence, desperation, and tragedy that follows João, a teenage Brazilian immigrant, as he pushes himself to his limit trying to make something of himself.
