Hiccup ran as fast as his legs could carry him. He knew which direction to go. He had been there everyday since that night about a month ago. He stumbled into the cove and dropped the basket on the ground.
"Alright we're leaving. Looks like you and me are taking a little vacation, forever"
Or, Hiccup actually ends up leaving before Astrid catches up to him. When Astrid finds Hiccup's knife buried in the mud she assumes the worst.
