A story inspired by the Gypsy Rose case Cleo, a 16-year-old girl, has always believed that her mother's harsh treatment is a distorted form of love. She endures the constant emotional and physical abuse, convincing herself that it's the only way her mother knows how to show care. But as Cleo grows older, cracks begin to form in her understanding, and she starts to question the reality of her situation. With the weight of her mother's cruelty bearing down on her, Cleo resolves to hold on until she turns 18 and can escape on her own terms. Along the way, her boyfriend becomes her comfort person. He fights to give her the space, support, and freedom she desperately needs to break free from the cycle of abuse. Not knowing that his desperation for her freedom will soon ruin her life.
