Look, if the shoe fits, wear it. There's a small part of you that's too much a coward to come face-to-face with the people you've been ogling on a screen for a few years.

Also-if you let yourself get your hopes up, that there might be a hysterically joyous upside to dying-then you might be horribly let down when they aren't there.

• originally i published on ao3, but i would like to publish it here as well! this is an ongoing fic with sporadic updates!

Hi! This is the first time I have ever written a fanfic so it might be bad sorry! This was originally for me but I decided to share it with you guys. If you don't like it you don't have to read it. Also I am still writing chapters so bare with me! uhhhh so enjoy lol. The others wasted themselves chasing after Hatter's dream. Chishiya would let them. He had no interest in thrones or titles. He only needed one thing to stay exactly where it was. You. Every glance, every shiver, every time you turned away from him - it only confirmed what he already knew. You were aware of him. You couldn't ignore him. And in a place filled with noise, desperation, and empty promises, that connection was the only thing that mattered. The Beach would eat itself alive soon enough. He'd make sure of it. But you... you wouldn't be touched by the flames. Because he wouldn't allow it.
