When Sawyer Jones loses another game for her university soccer team, The Quakers, she can't help but feel like she's the problem. Her boyfriend, who lives across the country, is no help either; as he is constantly telling her she isn't putting enough into their relationship. After her coach suddenly kicks the bucket, Sawyer's life starts to quickly decline. With the school trying to find a quick replacement, all soccer matches have been cancelled for the foreseeable future. Without a consistent training schedule, she finds it hard to focus in her college classes, resulting in the threat of her athletics scholarship being taken away. She has hit rock bottom and the only people that surround her are overzealous optimists. For Sawyer, it's always been a struggle to have control over her own life, so what happens when Olivia Barlowe, a woman who thrives on having absolute control, comes into town as the stand-in coach? And yet, every time their eyes met, something shifted, an unsettling pull that she couldn't quite explain. She didn't know what it meant, or why it unsettled her so much.
