Seventeen-year-old Alessa Bridgers is worn thin from years of chasing academic perfection. On the night before her school's science fair, she receives a strange, anonymous letter-one that turns out to be from her future self. The letter warns her to terminate the Superpowered Time Machine (STM) she and her friends have built before disaster strikes. Though shaken, Alessa dismisses the warning as stress-induced paranoia. The science fair arrives, the STM works flawlessly, and her group wins the top prize. But as they celebrate, the machine begins to behave strangely-lights flicker, the ground shakes, and the joy quickly dissolves into dread. Now, Alessa must face the possibility that the warning was real-and that the future is unraveling because of a machine she was never meant to complete.
