Before the world ended, Rose had to endure a different kind of apocalypse. Her family. None of which was easy or effortless, to her it was the most challenging thing she was given. No matter how much she tried, she always felt she didn't really fit in with the three people she was supposed to be bonded to for life. But the question remained; what was it that caused her to realize that the family she was born into, wasn't really her family at all?
This is a short prequel to my The Walking Dead fanfic Desert Rose. The contents of this story reflect on what my OC's life was like before the apocalypse. This was written to mainly give you more in depth detail about her character and the development of her story. There won't be too many parts to this, but I wanted the opportunity to really take a dip into her past since a few of you have been curious about the hints I've given in my original series. And as always, there will be a trigger warning atop any chapter that may have some sensitive subjects.

Before the outbreak she was a cop just like her brother. After Rick got shot and ended up in a coma the world fell apart. The dead came back and started attacking the living. The military fell too quickly, the city was overrun by the dead and now she was at an old quarry only a few miles outside Atlanta with her Sister-In-Law, Nephew, and her brothers best friend. On the way they met a few more people and now had a small group. She slowly grows close the the youngest Dixon brother, Daryl. When they get back from their hunting trip Daryl learns his brother was handcuffed to a roof and left in the city. But what had YN in complete shock and not knowing how to deal with it is the person who did it. Her brother was alive after she already Mourned his death. She blames herself for not double checking to make sure he was really dead or not. Story starts right after the incident at Hershel's barn but does not follow the story line of the show after that. The main character is a young woman named Nora who at first has developed feelings for Glenn after he was the one who helped get her out of the city. When she realizes she's held on to her feelings too long, she quickly starts to feel lost. Nora is somewhat of a trouble magnet but most of all she just wants to find her place in this new world. Along the way, she finds comfort in an unlikely person. (I do not own the original art for the cover) {I started this story back in December 2011 on Tumblr and although it didn't get the fan following that I had always hoped for, it did well in it's own way. It had loyal followers and I got comments on how much readers loved it. I thought I would try posting it on Wattpad to see what becomes of it.
