Aisling (pronounced Ashleen) O'Byrne's quiet life in the Irish countryside became nothing more than a distant memory blurred by the outcomes of a broken world when she was swept away to America. Sun flares burned the Earth to nothing more than a desert wasteland and just when it was thought to have subsided, a deadly virus plagued the human race.
Aisling saw the effects of the virus, her father, Colon, succumb to them right before his daughter's eyes. A few months later, her mother, Saoirse (pronounced sou-sher), a talented doctor was needed to assist the World in Catastrophe Killzone Experiment Department headquarters in the race against time to find the cure.
Upon arrival Aisling's potential to follow in her mother's footsteps did not go unnoticed by Chancellor Ava Paige. Regardless of her youth, she was trained as a nurse, who would later be recruited to assist immunes brought into WCKD to be tested and experimented on to find a cure.
Aisling never once doubted the organisation; she fully supported it. She knew they had the best of intentions. She knew they would find a cure for their broken world. However, after her mother left with only a letter left behind she began to question where her loyalties stood.
Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts...
