Prayer Between Heartbeats The rain fell in heavy sheets, as though the heavens themselves mourned alongside Max. His dark overcoat clung to his broad shoulders, the fabric damp and cold against the biting Seattle wind. He stood alone, his boots sinking slightly into the wet earth beneath him. Around him, the quiet of the Muslim graveyard was only interrupted by the rhythmic pattering of rain against the gravestones. Max hadn't meant to come here. But there he was, as if some invisible pull had led him to the very spot where Aayat now rested. His hands trembled, not from the cold but from the weight of memories that flooded him-memories of the woman who had taught him what it meant to love, to truly live. Her name hung in the air like a prayer, whispered by the wind: Aayat Naseer. He could still hear her voice, soft and gentle, like the calm before a storm. "Life is never predictable, Max," she had told him once, her gaze as deep as the ocean, her heart heavy with truths she never needed to say aloud. He closed his eyes, leaning slightly against a nearby headstone. The rain blurred his vision, and the tears that he tried to hide mingled with the downpour, unnoticed by anyone but the silent witnesses around him. In this graveyard, time had stood still-just like his heart had the day he first met her. He could still feel the beat of that moment, the heartbeat that had stolen his own.

Three years after Haikal's death, Maryam still clings to the past, refusing to let go of the love she once had. Despite her best friend Aina's encouragement, she avoids Haikal's grave, keeps his letters, and isolates herself emotionally. She believes moving on means forgetting-and she's not ready for that. Then comes Ammar, a travel photographer who was once close to Haikal. His return to Malaysia stirs something unfamiliar in Maryam-a mix of frustration, guilt, and a strange sense of comfort. Ammar, seeing her pain, tries to help, but she resists. She doesn't need saving. Or so she thinks. One day, mysterious letters begin appearing at her café-words urging her to heal, to embrace life again. At first, she suspects Ammar, but the truth is far more heartbreaking: Haikal had written them before his death, knowing she would struggle to move on. As Maryam reads Haikal's final words and spends more time with Ammar, she faces an impossible choice-hold on to the past or embrace the possibility of love again. But letting go feels like a betrayal... and falling for Ammar feels like a mistake. Will Maryam take the risk and let her heart beat again, or will she remain trapped in the shadows of yesterday?
