Prayer Between Heartbeats

The rain fell in heavy sheets, as though the heavens themselves mourned alongside Max. His dark overcoat clung to his broad shoulders, the fabric damp and cold against the biting Seattle wind. He stood alone, his boots sinking slightly into the wet earth beneath him. Around him, the quiet of the Muslim graveyard was only interrupted by the rhythmic pattering of rain against the gravestones.

Max hadn't meant to come here. But there he was, as if some invisible pull had led him to the very spot where Aayat now rested. His hands trembled, not from the cold but from the weight of memories that flooded him-memories of the woman who had taught him what it meant to love, to truly live.

Her name hung in the air like a prayer, whispered by the wind: Aayat Naseer.

He could still hear her voice, soft and gentle, like the calm before a storm. "Life is never predictable, Max," she had told him once, her gaze as deep as the ocean, her heart heavy with truths she never needed to say aloud.

He closed his eyes, leaning slightly against a nearby headstone. The rain blurred his vision, and the tears that he tried to hide mingled with the downpour, unnoticed by anyone but the silent witnesses around him.

In this graveyard, time had stood still-just like his heart had the day he first met her. He could still feel the beat of that moment, the heartbeat that had stolen his own.

"Love once gave me wings... but betrayal carved them off and left me bleeding. For five years, I swore I'd never forgive her, no matter how much my soul burned for her. Now that she's mine again, I'll show her love isn't always a blessing-it can be a curse." - Aarav's POV "He held me once like I was the universe between his palms. Now I am nothing but ashes in his fire. Yet, why does my heart still wait for him to see the truth?" - Meera's POV ❝She gave him her soul. He gave her his scars. Now the silence between them is louder than love.❞ Meera once believed in forever. She believed in stolen glances across packed trains, in cheap coffee that tasted like love, in promises whispered under skies that didn't need witnesses. She believed Aarav Malhotra was her destiny. Until the night he thought she betrayed him. Five years of hatred sharpened every corner of Aarav's heart. When fate brought Meera back as his wife, love wasn't waiting for her. Vengeance was. The home she stepped into wasn't a beginning-it was her prison. Every day became a battlefield of her silence against his rage. Every bruise screamed the love she still carried, every tear drowned in the vow she refused to break. She endured-until her body carried not just his cruelty, but his child. But truth is merciless. The betrayal that shattered him never existed. The lies that condemned her were born of greed and malice. And by the time Aarav discovers it-it may already be too late. Because silence is not forgiveness. And sometimes the deadliest love stories are the ones where both survive... broken. A story of shattered voices, unspoken truths, and the brutal collision of love and guilt-this is not a fairy tale. This is the silence that can either kill... or redeem

She came out of the washroom, her stomach emptied from relentless vomiting. In her trembling hand, she held a pregnancy kit-two unmistakable pink lines stared back at her, declaring the beginning of a life growing inside her. She froze, eyes locked on the test. "No... no... this can't be happening," she whispered, her voice cracking before she collapsed to her knees, tears streaming down her face. Just then, the door creaked open. He walked in. The moment she saw him, she sprang to her feet, stormed towards him, and grabbed his collar. Her eyes blazed with fury and betrayal. "You cheated me! You trapped me in this marriage!" she shouted, her voice trembling with rage. "You manipulated me, married me, and now this?" she yelled, thrusting the test in front of his face. He stared at it in confusion, but as his eyes registered the two pink lines, understanding dawned. Slowly, a smile spread across his face. She's pregnant... She's carrying my baby... I'm going to be a father. His heart raced with happiness. His plan had worked. She threw the kit to the floor and began pounding her fists against his chest, sobbing, "Why? Why did you do this to me? What did I ever do to deserve this? You've ruined my life! I hate you... I hate you! And I will never forgive you!" A twisted, guilty joy stirred in his chest. As much as it hurt to see her like this, a selfish part of him felt victorious. He couldn't bear the thought of losing her-so he did what he had to do. If love wasn't enough to keep her, then maybe responsibility would be. At least now, she was tied to him... if not by choice, then by duty. He knew her parents would never let her walk away, not with a baby on the way. And maybe-the child could bring them closer. Maybe it could fix what he broke. He smirked, a dark thought creeping in. Now, she couldn't leave. She was TRAPPED WITH HIM. FOREVER.

Previously known as "The Ceo And His Hijabi" *** The night was dark. Ruthless and forbidden. It was like the murkiness was calling him in the arms of lurking demons, the demons which had always been there with him, teasing him mocking him. He stood before the window, looking down at the city, which was glittering as if thousands of stars have descended down from the sky, each scattering as far as a human eye could see. The tall buildings stood there, an aura of pride surrounding them, reminding him the consequences of the evil power that he had faced. His heart was beating in a sinful rhythm but the devil, oh the devil, he stood there in the darkness as if it was his own cloak, his own shelter. "Tell me this is a lie," The little Muslimah whispered. Her voice hoarse with emotions, her throat perched from all the crying that she had done in the past hour. The truth that laid before her had broken her. "Either you believe the artificial lie or realize the truth lying before your eyes." His voice was cold, devoid of any emotion. His mind but his heart, it was in chaos. A cry of pain escaped the Muslimah's lips but he stood there, unwavering, listening to the tortured soul. "How long? How long have you kept this from me?" She questioned him. Her green eyes held a fire which he had never seen before. It was dangerous because it could consume her, becoming the reason for her own downfall. He knew after telling her the truth there was no coming back but he was a man of character and no matter how comforting a lie is, he would always go for the truth even if it meant chaos.
