Ellie has been living through hell for the past decade.
The story started centuries ago when "angels" invited themselves into the human world and slowly took power. It was only ten years ago that their intentions for overthrowing human leadership were revealed.
See, when they took over, they passed legislation that outlawed all modern weaponry and technology. The humans reluctantly agreed. They were angels, for fucks sake. If they claimed the technology and weaponry would be the thing to bring on the end of the world, who were the humans to argue? When the angels had power worldwide and their legislation was passed, they started eating people. Yeah, that's right. Humans are nothing more than a food source to these so-called angels and they wanted an easy path to a really big meal.
For ten years, humans have been forced to do what they can to survive while the flying fakes gorge themselves. They don't travel or trade outside of their communities and they don't go outside. Unless they want to risk getting eaten.
But the fake angels are greedy. Human populations are decreasing rapidly. If they aren't careful, it won't be long before they have to find another human world to feed on.
If Ellie had her way, the things would all be dead before that happened. Now, with Amenium officers carrying illegal guns that shoot electricity and a real angel at their beck and call with the promise of hundreds more on the way, she has hope that her town can start to go outside again. It isn't enough for her but if it means babies will once again be safe in their cradles, she'll make do.
Betrayal is on the horizon and millions are ready to fight. The fakes can only stay in power for so long but that doesn't mean they're going down easy.
