Partially a love story

Miracle lives in the countryside with her mom, dad and 5 year old little brother. She hasn't left the farm since she was born and is desperate to see the city.

She has no time to think about such dreams as her fathers screams attack her senses every time she doesn't do her chores, or forgets to make food, or doesn't want to look after her brother etc etc. You get the gist.

And when her dad announces her sudden marriage to a rich businessman in the city she grabs at the chance to escape the hell she's lived in her entire life.

"Listen to me Mira, I'm not here to hurt you." Damon deadpans

"And how am I supposed to know that, when everyone else has ! " I growl back, tears in my eyes, trying to steady myself against the marble counter.

"You don't! That's the point you have to trust me!"

"WHY!"

"Because I'm in love with you, idiot!"

Then, the elevator dings and a scrawny old couple stares at us judgement soaring in their eyes as the small room goes quiet and I'm left to think about the last words spoken.
