And maybe it would have been, if the object of your affection loved you back the way you loved them. But he isn't that lucky. For him it was torture, everyday pretending like his feelings meant nothing, like it wasn't killing him every time they smiled at someone else. Every time they laughed at someone else's jokes. Every time they kissed someone else the way you hoped they'd kiss you. And every time realising that it would never happen.
