Eons before the formation of the tyrant nation of Venisal, a legend took place speaking of the banished brother of the old king seeking revenge on his brother. The banished prince traveled to the mountains and bargained with an ancient evil known as The One Who Waits. The banished prince returned to the kingdom with an army of the undead, and after a brutal war, was defeated and vanquished. Thousands of years later, an ancient evil has reawakened, and a group of adventurers that had originally been sent to return the princess of Venisal find themselves to be the world's best chance against a threat that no one can even name. A threat that is as old as time and is as distant as a whisper. How do you fight something that can't be seen or named?

A young huntress carves out her pointless existence alone in the woods. A young pilgrim walks the path a god once took, in search of purpose. A fading legend clings to old duties, his image as tarnished as his body, trying to stave off something dark. Something hungry. Sadia, a troubled young woman, has lived in isolation for years, convinced fate had forgotten her. But fate hasn't-and it isn't long before her past comes clawing back. The dead don't stay buried. Not while he is watching. Crimson Dawn, sheltered and devout, journeys out to prove his worth as an acolyte of Saron-unaware that something ancient and awful still follows him. Duras, once a hero of the legendary Eight, wants nothing more than to fade into peace and silence. But when he accepts one last job, he's pulled back into a world that still remembers him-only to find that something inside him is unraveling. Starving. The path is long. The trial await. An old shadow clings to the past with decrepit fingers. One question remains. Who will walk away at the end of it all?
