Amalika was born into a poor African household. Her mother was sick, and her father had two wives. After her father died when she was still very young, Amalika led a difficult life, such as her stepmother already being with children and not being kind to Amalika. Despite all the hardships, Amalika was talented; she danced and sang perfectly, something her mother had imparted to her. One day, after having been denied food from her father's farm, Amalika went to the forest to collect firewood and fruits. While working there, she danced and sang along, something that caught the eye of the crown prince of the Mosikke kingdom. The kingdom was conducting a big dance competition to choose a wife for Prince Runi. Despite the obstacles created by her step-siblings, Amalika was able to participate in the competition. She impressed everyone with her dance and won the hearts of the people as well as Prince Runi. After she had married him, Amalika was a great queen. Now, with her new title, she was able to help cure her mother's disease. Although her family still tried to spoil their happiness by setting traps, Amalika and Prince Runi had survived all opposition together.
