I stopped mid-bite, setting the fork down slow.
"You seen my sister."
The waitress chewed her lip, looking nervous now.
"She hasn't been around much, stopped showing up a few months ago."
"What happened?" I asked.
She sighed, glancing around like she was afraid someone might hear.
"Eva started seein' some guy. Bad news, real bad.
She got herself into some trouble she couldn't handle.
Went to somebody for help. A guy."
I leaned forward, my shadow falling over the counter between us.
My knuckles whitened around the coffee mug.
"What guy?"
She swallowed hard, setting the coffee pot down with a small clink.
Her voice dropped to a whisper.
"Frank Castle."
