25 parts Ongoing "I can't believe you, again!" I shouted, my voice trembling more from hurt than rage. "You always do what you want, never thinking about anyone else!"
He stood there, arms crossed, his jaw tight.
"I'm not answerable for every breath I take!"he bit back.
The words hit harder than they should have. For a moment, I couldn't even speak.
"You are my husband," I finally said, my voice low, dangerous. "And if being with me feels like a burden, you should've said it long ago."
His eyes darkened
In two strides, he was in front of me, so close I could feel the heat radiating off him. He held my chin between his fingers, forcing me to meet his gaze.
"You think I stayed because it was easy? You think I fought every damn battle for myself?" he said, voice rough.
"I stayed," he said, softer now, each word like a strike against my heart, "because every day without you... felt like breathing without air."
The room spun.
I blinked, unsure if I'd heard him right, the anger draining out of me in one dizzying rush.
He leaned closer, his forehead brushing mine. "You're not my burden, jaan. You're the reason I even bother fighting."
For the first time that night, I had no words left only the way my heart betrayed me, beating far too fast against my ribs.
