Sugar and Spice...a steamy summer in Sea Breeze, Alabama is everything nice...

It's summertime in Sea Breeze, and it's Clare Drake's favorite time of year. The time where there's no school and no homework. Just the sun, the beach and the last summer with her best friend before she goes off to college. Every year has been the same for Clare. She goes to work, runs errands for her parents, has family dinners and cookouts, and watches the tourists and summertime visitors come in from all over. But this year Clare decides she's tired of living in her best friend's shadow. She wants something more. Much more.

Dylan Andrews has been coming to Sea Breeze during the summer as long as he can remember. He and his friends pack up every summer and spend the season with the sand, the sun, booze, and girls. But when Dylan finds himself seeking out the blonde lifeguard with a gentle nature he realizes he got more than he bargained for.

Clare knows that no good comes from being friends with boys like Dylan, but Dylan's not letting her get away that easily. As the summer heats up, Clare and Dylan find themselves lost within a wild world of fun and adventure. A roller coaster ride filled with excitement, but if they aren't too careful what could start out as something harmless can end up damaging them both beyond repair.

In the aftermath of a divorce, a talented and troubled swimmer, Abigail Brooks, finds comfort in an unexpected friendship with a math teacher, Ms. Melissa Bennett, who insists on helping her overcome her problems. As their bond deepens, Abigail unravels the challenges of Ms. Bennett's life: her relentless dedication to her work and her incapability to form any type of relationship have held her back from living at the fullest, and perhaps she should be saved from her own insecurities. While Abigail falls in love for the first time, she is torn between her first love and her unexplainable attraction to Ms. Bennett; they rely on each other to fight their battles, and have to decide whether their feelings are strong enough to follow them. "You did good," calmly stated Ms. Bennett, putting her hand on Abigail's thigh. "Look at that sunset," said an amazed Abby, staring at the sky changing color right in front of them. As if it was an obvious request, the two women got out of the car and placed the tablecloth on the grass, then lay down on it, with their attention completely drawn to the stars above their heads. While Abby was thinking about her hand accidentally yet not at all unwelcomed brushing against Ms. Bennett's, she was reflecting on how much the young girl had changed her life, putting her out of her misery and need to look for comfort in her work. "The moon is beautiful, isn't it?" Ms. Bennett murmured under her breath. English is not my first language so be patient with me :)

Fresh off her first year at the University of California at Santa Barbara, Emilia Casey is simultaneously happy to be back in her sleepy beachside town for the summer while also missing her life and friends at college. Located on the other side of the country from UCSB, the last thing Emilia expects to see in her mostly unknown corner of the world is her college friends. And yet, that's exactly what happens when Damian Farago, the most beautiful friend she has, shows up on vacation with his family. After a startling meeting, Damian ropes Emilia into being his tour guide for the rest of his time in her charming town. As the pair explores every corner the town has to offer, Emilia finds a crush left over from the school year turning into maybe something more. In this feel-good, summer short story, attractions are strong and smiles can be found all around as two young adults realize that all this time the other had been paying attention. excerpt: ""Okay, okay!" Damian's laughter was warm as he took the cracker, the smile forming on his face one of the kind that made the world unbelievably bright despite the dark sky above them. Emilia couldn't help but smile in return, warmth flooding her chest at the sight of his crinkling eyes. He was just so beautiful. She didn't know how many times she'd thought it since first meeting him last winter, but she was sure, as her eyes lingered for a long time on every angle and curve of his face, that she would never stop thinking it. That she would never think it too much because it was so absolutely true. The way the moon caught on the few gold strands strewn throughout his brown hair, the curve of his lips in his smile, the sparkle of the stars reflected in his eyes. She wanted to memorize him, to recall every freckle and eyelash, to never forget the way he blinked-softly-or the way he breathed-steadily." **WARNING: -considerable swearing -TW: brief discussion of depression in Chapter 4, bipolar disorder in Chapter 5

#13 in kotlc She only smiled up at him wading out deeper into the water. "I'm gonna go deeper than you," she teased. "In the water, or in our relationship?" He flirted back, taking after her. Sophie didn't think before she spoke. "Maybe both," she blurted, feeling her cheeks grow hot. Covering up her embarrassment although he could feel it anyway, she went deeper, only her toe tips touching the sand. [This book is PG-13 tho, I promise] --------------------------------------------- Matchmaker scrolls arrive just in time, and Sophie has the most difficult decision to make. Keefe and Fitz are two of her favorite guys around. Whatever she chooses, she is going to hurt at least one of them. ----------------------------------------------- Almost all of the characters belong to Shannon Messenger's Keeper of the Lost Cities series. Please don't plagiarize. I have to say that this does include more Sokeefe than Sophitz. “What is your problem?! LEAVE ME ALONE!” I screeched. I was tired of this and couldn't hold it in. He’s been doing this for a whole year. A WHOLE YEAR. It was the last day and I had nothing to lose from this sudden outburst anyway. I was ecstatic that it was almost summer vacation. I’m going to go to my aunt’s place in Philadelphia and live there for the rest of the summer – AWAY from Dylan and his friends here in Massachusetts. “Never, baby. Wherever you are, I’ll be there.” He sent me one last smirk and left the cafeteria, filing out along with the rest of the students. ♣ “I’ll miss you, sweetie.” “I’ll miss you too, mom. See you in September.” And with that, I closed my suitcase for the last time in Massachusetts and prepared for a peaceful, serene summer in Philadelphia. ♣ “Dylan?!” I shrieked as my glasses drooped down the bridge of my nose. “Abby…?” He sounded unsure as he studied my face and features a bit more. “What are you doing here?” “I should be asking you that,” I stated bluntly while readjusting my glasses. “Oh you silly kids. We already told you. We’re living together!” Elaine announced again. I almost barfed.
