This novel tells the tale of a young detective from 1920's France, Vincent, who is asked to investigate an old murder on behalf of his father, who held his position before retiring. This case baffled the entire force, and left his father on the brink of insanity. Despite warnings, Vincent is determined to reveal the true killer. However, while visiting the location of the old murder to observe the building, he encounters an "interesting" person, to say the least- if one can even refer to her as a person any longer.
