This fanfiction reimagines Mo Dao Zu Shi (MDZS) in an alternate modern universe inspired by the sleek, high-stakes world of Ocean's Eleven. Canon characters - alongside original ones - are dropped into a world of deception, luxury, and danger, where one mistake could cost you everything.
The Lan brothers have risen as ruthless titans of Macau's casino empire, ruling over three major properties with wealth and power that crush competition. The other great clans remain, reimagined as elite casino families deeply tied to politics, legacy, and the underworld. (The Jiang Clan, notably, runs the prestigious Lotus Pier hotel chain - no casinos, but just as much influence.)
Our crew of specialists includes:
Wei Wuxian - the charismatic heist leader
Qing Yi - my original character, second-in-command
Jiang Cheng - the field strategist
...and a full supporting cast drawn from MDZS canon.
Together, they plan a takedown that could shatter the Lan empire - but the deeper they go, the more tangled the loyalties and risks become.
This story also centers on a slow-burn relationship between Lan Xichen and Qing Yi, set against the backdrop of high-stakes deception and impossible choices. Their dynamic is central to the emotional arc.
