Powers. Abilities. The Enhanced. They wouldn't be here if the government didn't blow up an asteroid heading towards Earth 200 years ago. The strange particles seeping into the atmosphere and air. And then Genetic Mutations. First it started with simple elemental abilities. Water, Fire, the basics. Then it turned into more complicated assets. Speed, strength, flight. The ones with these special genetics were hard to find. Only certain sightings. Scientists took years to figure out what was happening. Started with some very....inhumane testing, but eventually things began to clear up across the world. Next thing they knew, Heroes were created. But with Heroes, there had to be villains. Those who sought a negative approach to their new found art and used it to their advantage. Generations passed, powers grew stronger, nations created the EBIC(Enhanced Beings International Corporation). Letting capitals open schools around the globe for Children and Teens to master their abilities and hopefully use them for the better good. But when one has power and another not, people may take it into their own hands to create a force to challenge that power. And they will not stop.

Shortlisted for the Open Novella Contest 2019 • Being a Supervillain is tough. Between managing a secret lair and making sure your mom doesn't stop loving you because you keep telling everyone she's dead, it's a really hard business to be good at? Add to that, the fact that somehow you got arrested because your cat sitter didn't take the day off and then you go around expressing your unconditional love for pancakes in a Super holding cell because technically they can't put you in a proper prison and you don't really have a choice because lawyers are expensive? And then, you realise your best friend is plotting go take over your spot as the greatest villain there ever was? Okay, maybe not the greatest, but you do come pretty close to it! To top it off, there's that one Superhero who's just so completely gorgeous, you couldn't imagine any harm coming to them? Because they're just that precious? I guess that makes me a Supervillain with minor time travel superpowers and a huge crush on a not so powerful Superhero? And all you have to do is protect yourself and everyone you love from your ex best friend/sidekick --because let's face it that's the highest level of praise for a wretched traitor here--and you also have to get out of Super Holding somehow? At first, he was in denial, but inevitably came to the understanding that he is now a Super, and if he has powers, he might as well use them for something other than picking up hot chicks. Now, not only does he have to deal with school, his almost non existent social life and his aggravating younger brother, but he also has to fight super villains and learn to control his new found powers to avoid blowing his cover to the world...and it is a lot harder than he anticipated. Prepare for a roller coaster ride of lame one liners and painfully awkward adolescent behaviour, along with bromances and romances, breakups and make ups, and even some cliché superhero behaviour, villains who hold a grudge, and really dorky super suits. Oh... and angry, rampaging squirrels.
