Kaia works for an organized, well respected and feared mafia. She's leader of her own gang of women. And on what was supposed to be a simple hit on a drug dealer, she picks up a stray. Renaming her new pet, Phoenix and bringing her home.
The problem?
Kaia's new pet is a human woman named Birdie, who was kept captive by the very man Kaia was sent to kill. After saving her from the house of horrors, Kaia feels responsible for the woman who has clung onto her since that night and refuses to let go. But Kaia's gang doesn't agree with taking Phoenix home. They want to send her away, saying it's not healthy. That Phoenix needs professional help. And Kaia is starting to agree. But when it comes down to doing what's right, Kaia is afraid she doesn't have a good moral compass. In her world, killing, is usually the right answer. But she trusts in her gang and knows they mean well.
Keep her or let her go? Kaia knows her decision will affect Phoenix, she just hopes it's for the better.
