Lilith's breath caught in her throat as she stared at the image in her hand. She was having difficulty comprehending exactly what was happening at that moment.
"Grams, this is- this is crazy! This doesn't even make any sense!" Lilith proclaimed.
"I'm so sorry, sweetie, but it's the truth. 19 years ago, when your mother gave birth to you, there were originally two babies. Twins girls. Your parents thought it would be better if your sister went to live with your paternal grandfather," explained Genevieve.
"Two babies? I have a sister? Wait, my paternal grandfather? But he is dead! How could they have given a baby to a dead man?!" Lilith exclaimed.
"Because he's not dead. He never was. They lied to protect you so you wouldn't find out about your sister."
"Protect me? How could they think this is protecting me?! They LIED to me my ENTIRE life!" Lilth could feel the anger bubbling beyond control as her mind and body begged for answers to questions she had been asking herself since she was old enough to form them.
Was this secret sister the reason she felt so alone? Was she the reason she felt like something was missing? She had a connection she could never fully understand; a feeling of 'otherness' that never went away. Maybe this girl was the answer she had been looking for.
"There is something else you should know, Lilith," her grandmother started, "your sister has a darkness inside of her, and she won't be able to control it for much longer. Soon, she will succumb to her darkness, and there will be no return, unless you can save her first."
