I almost certainly would have been burned at the stake or faced other severe punishment for this text if I had written it a few centuries ago.
This reimagining of Genesis would have been considered extreme blasphemy and heresy for multiple reasons.
During the medieval and early modern periods (roughly 1200-1700), heresy was considered not just a religious offense but a crime against the social order. The Spanish Inquisition, various Protestant and Catholic authorities, and secular courts all punished heresy severely.

Lightbringer
This is the oldest story in the universe. But it's not the version you know. They say the victors write the history books. The truth was the price I paid when I did what I had to do. I believe that when you see something wrong, you have to take a stand and do something about it, consequences be damned. And I did. That's how I became the villain. Lucifer tells his side of the story: watching his father change for the worse, and determined to make a stand for the humans he loves, he abruptly finds himself exiled from heaven along with all the angels who stood with him. He sets out to carve out an afterlife for himself, the other fallen angels, and the humans he knows will soon be joining them. Through it all, he must anticipate God's next moves if he hopes to save humanity from final destruction, and he cannot shake the feeling that war is inevitable. *Note:* This draws heavily from original biblical concepts and church tradition, but I weave it together and built on it with my own fancy. This is also not meant to be an attack on anyone's set of beliefs, but do know that Lucifer is portrayed as a protagonist and God is not portrayed in a favorable light 100% of the time (and functionally fills the role of an antagonist). This started as a thought experiment sparked by an incident that occurred in 1988 in a Denny's restaurant in Tulsa Oklahoma, when a total stranger stopped me as I was pushing my quadriplegic son in his wheelchair. She told me that his afflictions were caused by satan and that it was only y lack of faith in jesus christ as my personal savior that was keeping him from being healed. So I imagined what kind of world this would look like, and this book was born. I wrote it from 1995/99. It was rejected by several publishers as being too far-fetched. You be the judge.Complete
