Nova Levine has her life going for her, working for one of the best party and events planners in the city, Signature Celebrations. It's a dream job and she's doing everything within her power to rise to the top. Her parents have tried to set her up with men before, all of whom had ideas about how to best tame her and her lifestyle. So when they insist on her bringing their idea of a date to her brother's wedding, she promises to come up with a plan.
Heath Evander knew Nova when they were in high school. They were academic rivals and promised to never get involved. When he stole a top scholarship to Duke University, she would never forgive him. Now working for a rising law firm, and making a name for himself, he's surprised to see her after so long. But even though he should run from her idea, he's enticed. However, they would need to make it convincing for them to both get what they want.
They are complete opposites in every way. He's dark and pragmatic. She's light and a visionary. And her family certainly wouldn't approve of him or their arrangement.
But if they would stick to the rules, all would work out. After that they would part ways. But something holds them back. And something dark from their past presents itself. Secrets linger from both sides. In spite of much to tear them apart, a spark of attraction is burning to surface. Will they fan the flames or will it burn them?
