Vessel never felt like a hero. In reality, she was built to endure.

She absorbs pain. Physical most often, but emotional pain sometimes swims through the air in such a way that it's impossible to ignore. Her body turns it into energy automatically, and that's what makes her dangerous. And it's what makes her useful.

When a cosmic threat pushes her beyond her breaking point, she's forced into the orbit of Mark: another hero, kind when others would have controlled, and the only person who's ever seen her as a blank slate. But back home, there's Steven - the man who raised her, trained her, saved her, and perhaps even loved her in ways he was never supposed to.

Caught between the man who shaped her and the one who might finally understand her, Vessel is pulled into a world of impossible choices: between duty and feeling, love and danger, and most importantly, control and freedom.

In a world that only wants her for what she can endure, she has to decide who she's allowed to become when she finally chooses to stop just surviving.

(As of May 5th, 2025, I split the early chapters in half so they are shorter in length. All of the content is the same, in case you happened to have read them while they were much longer).

When you think of fire you usually think of, well, fire. The red hot plasma from a campfire, on torches, or what happens when a forest comes into contact with it. Hell, maybe even the literal burning ball of gas we hate yet need so much in the sky. So what other "fire" could there possibly be? Well, what about the flames of ambition. The kindle of love and comfort. The blaze that is rage, and more. What do they all have in common? They need fuel, and an ignition. Something to start the fire and something to feed it. Both could be anything. It could be an ember on wood, an inspiration on spirit, the list goes on. Another thing that they all have in common is that they will consume the fuel until there is nothing left to feed on. Wether it be fragments, shards of what once was, down to the soul. It all turns to ash to be fuel for the next generation. But that doesn't mean everything is consumed right away. The embers take their time. To enjoy themselves a little longer lest they snuff themselves out from rush. Although, sometimes they can be impatient and leave somethings intact or untouched. Well, it just so happens that the flames were a bit overzealous with a feast and left a survivor. Said survivor has retired and is heading towards a quiet place called Beach City to leave behind the ashes of his past. At least it would be quiet if it weren't for a boy and three sentient rocks being trouble magnets!! I don't own any pictures, music, or videos used in this story. 52 parts Complete Mature

She was never meant to be his. Mark knew it from the start-she was fragile, innocent, and far too good for someone like him. But from the moment he saw her, he was ruined. She became his obsession, his addiction, his darkest craving. She came from a home where love was a myth, where bruises spoke louder than words. So when he whispered promises of devotion, of forever, she believed him. She belonged to him. But love like theirs was never meant to survive. Parents tore them apart. Society condemned them. And just when she thought she had escaped his grasp, he came back. Darker. Possessive. Unyielding. Now, they are no longer just two reckless students in love. They are fire and gasoline, desire and destruction. He swore he would have her again-by any means necessary. And this time, she knows there's no escaping him. Because love isn't always gentle. Sometimes, it's obsession. And sometimes, it consumes you whole.
