After Tigerclaw's villainous reveal, Longtail struggles with finding a new path to follow, and finds himself blind to what to do next as he falls into a terrible state. All the while Fireheart battles with his new responsibilities as deputy, and his own new feelings he doesn't know how to deal with. The two battle through mental torture and struggle to hold it together, but find themselves comforted the closer they are.
