The year is 2075. Mystic Falls is now under supernatural lockdown. a new global faction of supernatural hunters known as The Order of the Hollow Sun has begun wiping out all magical bloodlines.

Bay starts hearing whispers dead witches calling her in dreams and sometimes even when she's awake. They lead her to an ancient crypt sealed beneath the ruins of New Orleans. Believing they want her to release long buried ancestral magic to fight the hunters, Bay performs a forbidden resurrection spell.

But instead of magic, she brings back Klaus Mikaelson, the original hybrid.

Weakened but furious, Klaus has no idea why he's alive again only that it's not random. The dead witches manipulated Bay for a reason Klaus is the only one who can stop the destruction of supernatural kind, but doing so may require Bay to become just as dangerous as the bloodline she comes from.
