It has been 100 years since the Great Calamity befell the land of Hyrule, leaving the once prosperous kingdom in ruin. After a century of slumber, Link wakes up alone with no memory of who he is. The voice of the long lost Princess Zelda calls to him, telling him to save her kingdom. With nothing but his courage and his name, he takes on the responsibility to put it back on track. But as his memories begin to creep to the surface, he soon finds not all is as simple as he once thought. Will he be able to cut himself off from his feelings to complete his quest? Or will he be swallowed by them, as every new memory unlocks another secret buried in his heart? A novelization of BOTW's story. (A/N: If anyone is confused about the writing style in the first few chapters, I apologize. I wrote this fanfic when I was still very new to writing. A clinical, silent force is flaying reality, peeling the vibrancy from the world until only a gray, hollow static remains. To strike at a shadow that predates the Sages, Link must commit the ultimate sacrilege. By triggering the Hemorrhage, he has torn 200 years of stagnant, holy power out of the foundations of the past to fuel a war in the dark.
