I stare at the contract, throat closing.

Ryder leans in, his voice low and deadly. "You sign, or he dies."

Christian is silent behind me. I don't have to look to know he's trembling.

"Zoey..." he whispers.

Tears stream down my cheeks. My hands won't stop shaking.

I grab the pen.
