A small beachside town in Southern California during the hot summer of 2006

Kai Moreno was a 17 year old boy who was very popular around the small town. He was known for his kindness and golden retriever like energy he brought to any room he was in. He was always happy to help. But what he was most famous for was his surfing. At every small town event he would show off, everyone loved it...except for some people. He is basically easy going and charming until the arrival of a new face turn his summer upside down.

But Elliot Park was a bit of the opposite, 17, and an artsy guy from San Francisco who's been dragged to Seabright by his dad after a messy fall out with his friend group. He keeps to himself, drawing and sticking to his music. One thing Elliot Knew for sure was that he hated the ocean, and had a big fear of water..

(Use to be called 'How Did My Life Get So Complicated?" but figured it was too long and decided to shorten it and give a different description than it was before). Zeke's life was that of a simple nerd who liked being in the background unnoticed and who just happens to be gay. It really doesn't help when you have two tormentors picking on you every single day with no do anything to stop it. Since it was his senior year all he had to do was hang on for the next ten months. Everything will be alright, right? Sadly it won't because life decided to throw a curve ball at Zeke's head by adding more pain other than what his bullies do to him. He gains a friend, looses said friend, only living relative dies and added to that his first love ends before it even really begins.

Personally, I never saw myself as an optimistic person. I never really had any friends, I didn't share feelings for people, I never really had any social life whatsoever. My life was always boring. Especially when I was younger. My parents were sucked up alcoholics, we never had the money to do anything due to my mom quitting her job and my dad being a selfish prick. Though, I'm now an adult; 18 years old. No longer in school. I have job at Walmart as a nightshift stocker; my mother's friend gave me the job. It's summer, so I'm not working as much. I have a small friend group, containing people of 4. Me including, Nathan, Carly, and Dalton. We've known each other since early middle school. I, Kyle, have known Carly and Dalton since grade school. It is rolling up to be Summer. Us 4, have decided to make this Summer year the best of our lives. I honestly didn't realize how broken I was. I just figured that if I shut all my feelings out that they would go away. They didn't. They came back strong as ever. This story and it's characters are basically full of my own insecurities and fears, so yeah enjoy. If you start getting anxiety because of it I am so sorry, and know that I am here for you. I understand all the pain of bull crap so many have to deal with, on top of rigorous classes and a mental disorder. Eden is your typical American teenager... Kind of. His family hates him. He hates him. His old friends hate him. His old boyfriend hates him. Basically everyone he's grown up with in his hometown hates his god damn guts. All because he's gay, stupid right?
