After the apocalypse in December of 2012, the human race takes habitat in the ground under the place they once called home. Twelve-year-old Emerson Wade and his friends decide to break out of Crijance one night, climbing the 300 foot ladder to freedom. However, what they find up there is something not even the Ophiucians could have prepared them for.
