It's 1985 in Christchurch, New Zealand. Amy Neal is shy, reserved and awkward, but she dreams of transforming herself into someone fashionable and popular. At first she has little success, but then she bumps into Skye Morris, an old family friend whom she hasn't seen in years. Skye draws Amy into a dizzyingly exciting world of goths, punks and wild parties. Amy embraces this new life initially, but then senses things spiralling out of control. Skye seems to be taking her on an increasingly dangerous journey. Now Amy must decide how far she is really prepared to follow her friend, how far she is really prepared to go... This is a work of fiction. Any resemblance between the characters in this book and real persons, living or dead, is entirely coincidental.
