"You should head in. It's cold," Riven said, barely meeting my eyes. I folded my arms. "You're warm today." He blinked. "What?" "Last week you ignored me. Today you walk me here and pretend to care." I took a step closer. "Pick one, Riven. Hot or cold. I'm tired of guessing which version of you I'll get." His lips parted like he might say something-but he didn't. And that silence? It said more than anything else.

"Are you my boyfriend?" I asked, looking straight into his eyes. His grip on my wrist loosened. Translation: who are you to question me? I took another shot. But this boy-he literally snatched my drink and downed it himself. "You can share it with your friend, right?" He flashed his sweetest smile. I wasn't falling for it. "We aren't friends anymore," I muttered, holding my head as dizziness took over. I barely heard him instruct the bartender to stop serving me drinks before everything started spinning. The next thing I knew, I had collapsed into something warm and solid. When I forced my eyes open, I found myself in his arms. ________________________________ "Do you really want me to?" Her breath hitched, but she didn't pull away. Her fingers curled tighter against my shoulders, as if grounding herself. I watched her, my own restraint hanging by a thread. The way her lips parted, the way her chest rose and fell unevenly-I could feel the war waging inside her. I should've stepped back, given her space. But I couldn't. Not when she was looking at me like that. She didn't answer, but her silence spoke louder than words. Slowly, I ran my thumb over her cheek, tracing the dampness left by her tears. So fragile, yet so intoxicating. "Tell me to stop, darling," I murmured, my lips barely an inch from hers. Her eyes flickered to my mouth, and that was all it took. --- she fell first✨
