Haruki Mika never imagined that her Quirk, a gift as unique as it is dangerous, would be the reason her life would take an unexpected turn. Expelled from her school due to an accident she couldn't control, she is sent to Japan to start over and seek her place at the prestigious UA, the most renowned hero academy in the world.
As she struggles to master her powers and prove her worth, Haruki crosses paths with Hitoshi Shinsou, a reserved boy with a challenging past. What begins as simple support among peers soon becomes an undeniable connection, as both try to overcome their fears and pursue their dreams.
Haruki begins to question the traditional path of heroes, sensing that perhaps not everything heroes believe to be true is actually true. The tension between following the path of heroes and exploring other horizons grows, and her relationship with Shinsou turns into an internal conflict.

After causing a major accident at her last school and spending months in a cell for it, enduring torture day in and day out, she is transferred to UA High. There she meets a spikey-haired boy just as fiery as she. Shinsou always wanted to be a hero despite being told he has a villain Quirk throughout his life. Now he's been in the Hero Course for two months, and feels that hope weakening, knowing he's the reason Kaminari and Sero's friendship is ruined. Bakugo doesn't make him feel any better with his unexplained hatred of him-but if Shinsou's being honest, he doesn't like him either. Not when he knows Bakugo told Midoriya to go take a swan-dive off of the roof of a building to get a Quirk in middle school. Things worsen when an American transfer joins class 1-A and comes to the same conclusion everyone does about him in one day -because Shinsou proved her right. As emptiness swallows him whole like a casket shutting out the light, he considers that maybe Bakugo had a point on how to get a Quirk to become a hero. What he doesn't consider, is that Bakugo would not only stop him, but the two would be stuck together by All Might's word because of Shinsou's very decision. In which Shinsou Hitoshi is a selective mute who hates burdening others trying to become a hero, and gives up after failing to get a different Quirk via a swan-dive. Or, a deeper bisection on how Quirks put expectations on their metahuman wielders, especially those who get viewed as villains for a power they didn't ask to be born with.
