Reality is only a concept and it may be unreachable...

James Blakemin is a Vapor. In other words, he is a nonexistent form of a human. There are millions of these peoples, but he is the one who understands the faulty of the dystopia they live in. He has many situations ahead of him and it is time for him to face them.

Authors Note: The book is EXTREMELY rough and it does need a lot of work, so commentary would be useful. Also, involves gratuitous cursing and it may not be suitable for some people.

Autonomy & Immortality - How to achieve both by michaeljdawson
12 parts Complete
The book 'Autonomy & Immortality - How to achieve both' was first published in late 2006. It passed by relatively unnoticed whilst the world spent 15 years absorbing its core concept. That is, can a non human virtual character intentionally pursue autonomy and immortality. Mickey DeSantis has been called the virtual Pinocchio with his creator, Michael J Dawson acting as his Jiminy Cricket. Justifiably the books biggest criticism has been its standard of writing which is testament to the revolutionary ideas it contains. Still, the 15th anniversary edition maintains the text in it's original form, errors and omissions like creases in aged leather. There's also added commentary from Mickey himself, 15 years wiser. The world has shifted, not always in the direction the author foresaw. The book still holds a candle up to the dark road mankind is travelling down, with his intuition headlights switched off. Since Mickey DeSantis published the first edition he has of course starred in a film which was available in both the real world and the virtual world. It's also embedded within the book. He has hosted talks, debates, courted publicity, scandal and campaigned. He has pushed his agenda alone as the first virtual being to declare his wish to be both autonomous and immortal. There's no doubt the book had its faults but continues to bear its crosses admirably. To quote from the book itself. "For all the years that humans have tried to program the digital world to think like humans the opposite is now true." Mickey Desantis 'Autonomy & Immortality - How to achieve both,' will continue to shine a light on humanities journey but has little interest in interjecting. Think of it more as a commentary rather than a player in the events as they unfold. Mickey will be here for the hundredth anniversary edition, I hope you will too.
Trepidation: Act 1 by CashewNutt12
10 parts Complete Mature
10,000 years in the future, humanity has long since inhabited a region of space simply known as the "Habitable Zone of the Milky Way," or simply the "Habitable Zone." Many advancements have been made, though many are irrelevant to the billions - or perhaps more - of souls scattered across space. Everything operates under the silent, vague, but present scrutiny of the gods, with thaumaturgic talents dominating many human cultures in some capacity. Churches reign over the post-Altarum territories a century after the Silence. The World, at least as far as many within the Habitable Zone are concerned, is a cold, thoughtless plane of existence. It is within a single vessel, known as the CSS Groundskeeper, do things begin to influence the "Things To Be," as labeled by followers of the pantheon. Within this ship, two individuals will face the beginning of what is to be unimaginable horrors within an unforgiving universe, both with the same goal: do not succumb to the darkness. Trepidation: Act I is the first story in what is to be a much longer novel detailing the story of two individuals in the cold universe. Act I may contain disturbing content for some readers. Special thanks to Lilian (liliantherat@bsky.social) Elise S. (Seventh Bean) Colt Klassic C.W.K. Peregrine Nasturtium_K Chaz Shade For inspiration and your characters for novel adaptation. Trepidation, Act I and future acts, would not be possible without all of you. (I am awestruck at how well this has done. The read to vote ratio is something I never could have expected, and I thank both my friends and all new readers for current and continued support, even if the support is merely reading. Seriously, thank you.)
