There are two things Luningning Hope Solano can't give up: her favorite steamed egg and her impossible, toxic relationship with writing.

After years of repeatedly unfinished drafts on her laptop, kasama na roon ang pag-iyak sa ilalim ng kaniyang kumot, Ningning finally gave an ultimatum to herself. Write one last book or forget her undying dream. Isa na lang. Kapag hindi niya pa natapos 'to, she'll kiss writing goodbye and move on. Maybe she'll go to law school. Or... open a sari-sari store. Basta not writing. Ever again.

But how do you write such a freaking story when your brain is empty, sometimes scrambled, and your leads all sound like dry toast? Plain na nga, wala pang personality.

She is indeed hopeless, as deemed by herself. Dahil kahit anong kalikot niya sa utak, she can't find any inspiration. Until she got hit on the head by a blasting spike of Sinoah Alvarez de Viana - a star varsity player of their university. Messy hair. Golden skin. Walking sunbeam. And a kind of charm that made her want to grab her laptop right there and then.

He's loud. He's sweaty. He spikes balls for fun. And he's unfortunately perfect for her male lead.

Ningning swears! It's all for her book. But why is it every time she sees him smile, toss, serve, and spike the ball, all she can think about is writing a slow-burn romance where he and she are the leads?

Good lawd. That's definitely not the match point muse she had in mind.

IN 90'S YEARBOOK SERIES 1 Why do our dreams so often feel like distant stars, as if just beyond reach? Why must we wrestle so fiercely, bleeding through wounds of doubt and stumbling beneath shadows, just to claim the right to call them our own? Must relentless struggle be the price we pay for fulfillment, as if the path to our dreams is carved only through pain and sacrifice? In the words of Yves Magdalene Aquino, even the deepest hardships cannot be measured against the pursuit of her dreams. No measure of suffering, no storm of sweat, blood, or tears has ever sufficed to compensate for the relentless efforts she invests simply to support her own needs and to ease the burdens carried by her parents. For her, no amount of effort ever feels enough. Yet, despite tireless effort, Yves feels the poignant ache of insufficiency. No amount of sacrifice seems to grant peace to her mother's weary heart or to lay rest upon her father's tired shoulders. Writing... is my escape. Outlet. Release. Iyong aking journal kung saan ko isinusulat lahat... alam nito ang lahat ng pinaka makatotohanan kong mga salita. The words that I write, the phrases that turn into sentences, built into lengthy paragraphs, mirror the slow burn of my days, the sweet torture of running my ink on the papers' rough surface, and the peace that is lit on a torch upon recording my most vivid, authentic, and honest thoughts. You see, I have pages that contain the significant episodes of my life. It has been my quiet companion for a long time. Alam nito kung paano itago at ingatan ang mga salitang hindi ko kailanman plinanong ibahagi sa iba. Hanggang sa hindi na. The one page with that one harmless answer erupted into a defeaning time of my life. It really was a mistake writing his name under that prompt. Lancaster. The Promising Star of the Basketball Team.
